*CALL TO WORSHIP

See what love the Father has given us,
that we should be called the children of God.
You are my sons and daughters, this day I have begotten you.
See what love the Father has given us.                                                                          As many as received him, to them he gave power to become the children of God.
See what love the Father has given us.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
See what love the Father has given us,                                                           that we should be called the children of God.

*OPENING HYMN                  “This is My Father’s World”                           UMH No. 144

OPENING PRAYER

Loving God, as we gather for worship this morning we worship and praise you and we give you thanks for fathers who have given us life and love. May the example of their faith shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect as we serve others in Jesus’ name. Amen.

OLD TESTAMENT READING   Proverbs 3:1-12                                            OT pg. 553

Walking in wisdom, walking with God, and avoiding the path of destruction, humiliation, and ruin is a major undertaking, but our first priority must be the matter of our own heart. In this reading we hear how Godly wisdom can mold our heart and teach us to trust in the Lord.

HYMN                                        “How Great Thou Art”                                     UMH No. 77

NEW TESTAMENT READING      Romans 5:1-11                                              NT pg. 145

In this lesson Paul bids disciples to rejoice in the reconciliation and hope which are theirs because of the sacrifice of Christ on behalf of sinners.

       The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.  Amen.

THANK YOU! I do not know how to express my thanks for last week’s recognition. I have never felt so appreciated in any position. The flowers and gifts are wonderful. I will treasure the keepsakes and hope to keep the memory for many years. I do feel that God has called me to be at Ebenezer - not once, but twice! I must belong as long as He gives me the health and ability. Sincere thanks, Linda.
