Ebenezer has sponsored a Compassion Child through the Christian Children’s Fund for 15 years. Their program works with the world’s most vulnerable children.

Our current sponsored child is Gustavo Rosales who lives in the desert community of Jesus de Machaca, Bolivia. Approximately 1200 residents live in this community. Typical houses are constructed of dirt floors, adobe walls, and corrugated tin roofs. This community has electricity and water but needs technical training centers. The primary ethnic group is Aymaras and the most commonly spoken languages are Aymara and Spanish.
Gustavo’s birthday is October 5, 1997. Playing with cars, running, and playing group games are Gustavo’s favorite activities. In primary school his performance is average and he regularly attends Sunday school and church activities.
Most adults in Jesus de Machaca are unemployed but some work as animal herders and earn the equivalent of $12 per month. Gutavo’s father is sometimes employed as a farmer and his mother maintains the home. There are 3 children in Gustavo’s family. Gustavo is responsible for carrying water, running errands, and cleaning.
The regional diet consists of fish, bread, potatoes, and goat. Common health problems in this area include colds, fevers, and dental decay.
Our sponsorship allows the staff of Jesus de Machaca Student Center to provide Gustavo with Bible teaching, medical exams, recreational activities, academic support, hygiene supplies, and nutritious meals. The center staff also provides educational workshops for the parents of Gustavo.
Please remember Gustavo in your prayers.
